Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours for individuals and groups, showcasing the best of Spanish Town and surrounding areas.
- Provide accurate, captivating narratives about local history, culture, geography, and ecology.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all tour participants throughout the duration of the tour.
- Manage tour logistics efficiently, including timings, routes, and meeting points.
- Handle unexpected situations or emergencies with professionalism and calm.
- Act as a friendly and knowledgeable local ambassador, answering questions and providing recommendations.
- Customize tour experiences to meet the diverse interests and needs of guests when appropriate.
- Collect feedback from guests to continuously improve tour quality and participant satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Exceptional verbal communication and captivating storytelling abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of Jamaican history, culture, natural attractions, and current events, particularly within the St. Catherine Parish.
- Proven experience in customer service with a strong client-focused approach.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Valid driver's license (Class C or equivalent) with a clean driving record, if guiding tours requiring vehicle operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a professional tour guide or in a similar hospitality role for at least 2 years.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Formal training or certification from a recognized tourism or guiding institution.
- Deep familiarity with the Horizon Park, Spanish Town area and its specific hidden gems.
- Existing network within the local tourism industry.
