Career.zycto is thrilled to partner with a renowned client, a leading entity operating within the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, to find a dedicated Shop Attendant / Retail Sales Professional. You’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, driving sales of ethical merchandise, and educating patrons about the incredible work being done to protect Kenya’s elephants and rhinos. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and assist all customers, providing exceptional service and product information.
  • Accurately process sales transactions using Point of Sale (POS) systems, handling cash, credit, and mobile payments.
  • Maintain an impeccably organized and visually appealing shop floor, including merchandising displays and promotional materials.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation and ensure accurate record-keeping of all sales activities.
  • Educate customers about the significance of their purchases in supporting the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's conservation initiatives.
  • Efficiently manage inventory, which includes receiving and unpacking deliveries, stocking shelves, and conducting regular stock counts.
  • Professionally address and resolve customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Ensure the shop's cleanliness, safety, and adherence to all health and hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets and operational goals.
  • Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the shop, including securing the premises.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven retail sales experience, ideally in a tourist or high-traffic environment.
  • Proficiency in operating Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability in accurate cash handling and daily reconciliation procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in merchandising and inventory.
  • Ability to work effectively and remain composed in a fast-paced and dynamic retail setting.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written), with Swahili being a significant advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working within a conservation-themed retail outlet or similar non-profit environment.
  • Genuine interest in and basic knowledge of wildlife conservation issues, especially those relevant to Kenya.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and peak tourist seasons.
