Job Description

Are you an avid reader with a friendly demeanor and a knack for customer service? Do you thrive in an environment surrounded by stories, knowledge, and community? Career.zycto is thrilled to be recruiting on behalf of a cherished local bookstore in the heart of Ikorodu, Lagos, seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Bookstore Cashier. This isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to become a vital part of a beloved community hub where books come to life and connections are forged over shared literary passions. Our partner store is more than just a place to buy books; it’s a sanctuary for learning, imagination, and discovery, committed to fostering a love for reading across all ages within the Ikorodu community.

As a Bookstore Cashier, you will be the welcoming face of our establishment, the first and last point of contact for our valued customers. Your primary responsibility will be to process sales transactions efficiently and accurately, ensuring every customer enjoys a seamless checkout experience. Beyond the till, you’ll engage with patrons, offering assistance, answering inquiries about book locations, new arrivals, and upcoming store events. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with people, can recommend titles with enthusiasm, and helps maintain the inviting, clean, and organized atmosphere our customers have come to love. You will play a crucial role in creating a warm and memorable experience for every visitor, transforming a simple transaction into a delightful interaction.

This role requires a keen eye for detail, particularly in handling cash, card payments, and managing returns or exchanges with grace and professionalism. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring the sales floor remains tidy, organized, and visually appealing, occasionally assisting with restocking shelves, arranging displays, and merchandising new releases or seasonal collections. Basic inventory knowledge, the ability to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system, and comfortable handling a multi-tasking environment are beneficial, though comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success. We value individuals who are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic retail setting.
