Beyond the wheel, you are a guardian of passenger safety, conducting routine pre-and post-trip vehicle checks, managing passenger boarding and alighting efficiently, and maintaining a welcoming and secure environment for all commuters. Excellent communication skills are paramount for addressing passenger inquiries, announcing stops, and clearly relaying information. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate public transport buses along designated routes and schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
- Maintain a high standard of passenger safety, comfort, and service during transit.
- Collect fares accurately or verify tickets from passengers.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and public transport regulations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with passengers, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Manage unexpected situations (e.g., traffic, breakdowns) calmly and effectively, reporting incidents to dispatch.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the bus interior.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including trip sheets, incident reports, and passenger counts.
- Represent the company with professionalism and a positive attitude.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B (or equivalent heavy commercial vehicle) driving license for public service vehicles in Kenya.
- Minimum of 3 years' verifiable experience as a commercial bus driver.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic offenses.
- Excellent knowledge of Mlolongo and surrounding Nairobi routes.
- Strong adherence to safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- High degree of responsibility and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate of Good Conduct.
- First Aid certification.
- Defensive Driving certification.
