Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of food and beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Set up and clear dining areas, function rooms, and event spaces efficiently and attractively.
- Serve food and beverages to guests and attendees in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all catering areas, including kitchens, serving points, and storage.
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are well-maintained and ready for use.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting shortages to the Catering Manager.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and inventory management.
- Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and company health and safety policies.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to guest requests and inquiries with a positive attitude.
- Support event setup and breakdown for accommodation and sponsorship events, including table arrangements and decoration.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, event planners, and other team members to ensure seamless service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Catering Assistant or in a similar hospitality role.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and 'can-do' attitude, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cookery or a relevant catering qualification.
