Key Responsibilities
- Assist cabinet makers with the setup and operation of woodworking machinery, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Prepare materials by cutting, sanding, and assembling components according to specifications and blueprints.
- Load and unload materials and finished products, maintaining an organized and efficient workshop.
- Perform general shop maintenance, including cleaning equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Support in the assembly of cabinets, furniture, and custom millwork, including fitting hardware and joinery.
- Assist with the application of finishes, including sanding, staining, and sealing.
- Transport materials and tools around the workshop as needed.
- Maintain a keen eye for quality control, identifying and reporting any imperfections or issues.
- Follow instructions diligently from lead cabinet makers and supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of woodworking tools and machinery (e.g., saws, sanders, drills)
- Ability to read and interpret basic measurements and plans
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 25 kg)
- Excellent work ethic and reliability
- Basic communication skills in English or German
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and processes
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (apprenticeship or informal) in a woodworking shop, construction, or related field
- Completed vocational training in carpentry or cabinet making (Tischler/Schreiner)
- Familiarity with various wood types and finishing materials
- Experience with hand tools and power tools relevant to cabinet making
- Valid driver's license (Class B)
