Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Remote Employee Relations Specialist to join our global Human Resources team. This crucial role is designed to support our diverse workforce, ensuring a fair, respectful, and productive work environment for all employees, regardless of their location. As a Remote Employee Relations Specialist, you will be instrumental in promoting positive employee relations, resolving workplace conflicts, and maintaining compliance with company policies and labor laws across various jurisdictions. This is a unique ‘work from anywhere’ opportunity, meaning you can be based in Bozeman, Montana, or any location within the United States that allows you to effectively manage cases and collaborate with a globally distributed team. You will conduct thorough investigations, provide guidance to managers and employees on complex issues, and contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies. Your ability to build trust, communicate effectively, and apply sound judgment will be paramount in this role. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct objective, thorough, and confidential investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and misconduct, including harassment, discrimination, and workplace violence.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers and employees on employee relations issues, performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Interpret and apply company policies, procedures, and relevant labor laws consistently and fairly across various regions.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for managers and employees on employee relations best practices, policy adherence, and respectful workplace conduct.
- Partner with Legal, HR Business Partners, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective resolution of complex ER cases.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all employee relations cases, investigations, and resolutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of ER processes, policies, and programs.
- Stay current with employment laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
- Analyze ER data and trends to identify systemic issues and recommend proactive solutions to enhance the employee experience and minimize risk.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, HR Generalist roles with a strong ER focus, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations, including interviewing, evidence gathering, analysis, and report writing.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA) and HR best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and active listening skills.
- Proven ability to maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and case management tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote, distributed team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Experience working in a large, global, or tech-centric organization.
- Experience with remote workforce employee relations challenges and best practices.
- Familiarity with Oracle HR tools and systems.
