Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and meticulous Part-Time Quantity Surveyor to join our thriving team based in Curepipe. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates and budgets for various construction projects.
- Conduct thorough feasibility studies, risk assessments, and value engineering to ensure project viability and cost-effectiveness.
- Administer contract variations, assessing their cost implications and negotiating changes effectively.
- Prepare and analyze comprehensive tender documents, including Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Evaluate contractor bids, negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Manage and meticulously monitor project costs, ensuring strict adherence to allocated budgets and financial controls.
- Prepare accurate interim valuations and final accounts for payment, resolving any discrepancies.
- Provide expert advice on contractual matters, claims, and assist in dispute resolution processes.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant industry regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in industry-standard cost estimation, project management, and contract administration software (e.g., Candy, Buildsoft).
- Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant local legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to accurately read, interpret, and prepare blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification or membership with recognized bodies (e.g., RICS, CIOB, IQS).
- Direct experience with FIDIC contracts and other international contract forms.
- Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is highly advantageous.
- Strong familiarity with the local Mauritian construction market dynamics, suppliers, and specific regulations.
