Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Tailor to join our dynamic team at L’Atelier Créatif in Albion. Key Responsibilities
- Perform precise measurements, fittings, and alterations for a variety of garments, including dresses, suits, trousers, skirts, and formal wear.
- Cut and sew fabrics according to patterns and design specifications, ensuring accuracy and high-quality finishes.
- Construct new garments from scratch, following custom designs and client requirements.
- Conduct fabric analysis to determine appropriate handling, care, and sewing techniques.
- Operate and maintain industrial and domestic sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment.
- Advise clients on fabric choices, design modifications, and garment care to achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage workflow efficiently, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Collaborate with the design team on custom projects, prototypes, and special orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Continuously update knowledge of fashion trends, new materials, and tailoring techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tailor or Seamstress in a fashion or apparel setting.
- Expertise in garment construction, alterations, and repairs.
- Proficiency in pattern making, cutting, and fabric manipulation.
- Strong knowledge of various sewing techniques (machine and hand-stitching).
- Familiarity with different fabric types and their properties.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- Ability to interpret and execute design sketches and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English and Mauritian Creole.
Preferred Qualifications
