Job Description
We are seeking a highly vigilant, proactive, and customer-focused Security Officer to join our dedicated team at our prominent Beau Bassin-Rose Hill store. As a pivotal member of our security department, you will be instrumental in maintaining a consistently secure and safe environment for all our valued customers, hardworking staff members, and company assets. Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of security duties, primarily focused on the prevention of theft and fraud, swift and effective response to all incidents, rigorous enforcement of company policies and procedures, and providing crucial assistance whenever required. This dynamic position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional observational skills, and the critical ability to act calmly, decisively, and effectively under pressure, often in fast-paced or challenging situations. You will serve as a visible and approachable front-line ambassador for safety and security, ensuring that every individual who enters our store feels secure, respected, and welcomed. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, including sales floors, stock rooms, and exterior areas, to deter theft and ensure general safety.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to any suspicious activity or security breaches.
- Investigate and report all incidents of theft, vandalism, disorder, or other security concerns, documenting findings thoroughly and accurately.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security, safety, and customer conduct, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Provide assistance to customers and staff in emergency situations, including basic first aid administration if required, and coordinating with emergency services.
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, offering assistance and ensuring a positive experience while maintaining a visible security presence.
- Manage and control access points, ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas and secure zones.
- Participate in security briefings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices, company protocols, and relevant legal requirements.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary for incident resolution, prevention, and ongoing security initiatives.
- Complete daily activity reports and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining comprehensive records.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a retail or public-facing environment.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and identifying potential risks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and surveillance monitoring systems.
- Unwavering integrity, honesty, and a strong sense of ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Security Officer license or equivalent certification in Mauritius.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of Mauritian security laws, regulations, and retail loss prevention strategies.
- Fluency in English and Mauritian Creole; proficiency in French is a distinct advantage.
- Experience with advanced CCTV and alarm systems.
