Career.zycto is seeking a highly strategic and experienced Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent growth initiatives in Bulawayo. This pivotal role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive learning and development programs that align with our organizational goals and foster a culture of continuous improvement. As the Director, you will be instrumental in identifying skill gaps, developing innovative training solutions, and ensuring our employees have the resources and opportunities to excel in their current roles and prepare for future challenges.
You will champion a progressive approach to learning, leveraging cutting-edge methodologies and technologies to create engaging, impactful, and measurable development experiences. This includes everything from leadership development and technical skills training to compliance and soft skills workshops. The ideal candidate is not just an expert in L&D but a visionary leader who can inspire change, build strong partnerships across departments, and articulate the strategic value of learning investments to senior leadership. You will be responsible for building and mentoring a small L&D team, managing departmental budgets, and evaluating the effectiveness of all programs to demonstrate clear ROI. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with Career.zycto's business objectives and talent needs.
- Design, develop, and deliver innovative and engaging training programs, including e-learning, blended learning, workshops, and coaching, for all levels of employees.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the L&D team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring continuous professional growth.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development priorities across various departments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of all learning programs using metrics and analytics to demonstrate impact and ROI, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Research and integrate best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative methodologies in learning and development.
- Manage the L&D budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
- Partner with HR business partners and senior leadership to identify future talent needs and build robust succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure all training programs comply with relevant industry regulations and internal policies.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 8 years) in Learning & Development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or directorial role.
- Demonstrable expertise in instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and various training methodologies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in LMS administration and other learning technologies.
- Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously from conception to completion.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to evaluate program effectiveness and drive decision-making.
- Strategic thinking with a proven ability to align L&D initiatives with business goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
- Certifications in L&D (e.g., CPLP, ATD certifications) or relevant coaching qualifications.
- Experience working with diverse teams and across different organizational functions.
- Familiarity with industry-specific training requirements or compliance frameworks.
- Experience in change management and organizational development initiatives.
