Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physicals, operative reports, consultations, and discharge summaries, accurately and efficiently.
- Verify patient information and report specifics for accuracy and completeness.
- Edit and proofread transcribed reports for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity.
- Adhere strictly to medical, legal, and ethical guidelines, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and industry resources to ensure proper terminology and formatting.
- Manage workflow to meet turnaround time requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and pharmacological agents.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and, when necessary, with healthcare professionals regarding transcription quality or clarity issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 18 months of professional medical transcription experience.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional listening skills and the ability to discern different accents and dictation styles.
- Advanced knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Demonstrated typing speed of at least 60 WPM with high accuracy.
- Familiarity with various medical report formats and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Proficiency with transcription software and word processing applications (e.g., Microsoft Word).
