As a Barista at Career.zycto, you will be the face of our coffee experience, responsible for crafting a wide array of espresso-based beverages, drip coffee, and other specialty drinks to perfection. Your meticulous attention to detail, from grinding beans to frothing milk, will ensure every cup meets our high standards. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, inviting, and efficient workspace, ensuring our customers always feel welcome and served promptly. This position requires someone who is not only skilled in coffee preparation but also genuinely enjoys interacting with people, anticipating their needs, and providing friendly, professional service with a smile. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages (espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc.) strictly adhering to company standards and recipes, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment, performing regular cleaning and calibration to ensure optimal performance.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, taking orders accurately, answering questions, and providing thoughtful menu recommendations.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and adherence to cash handling procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, and equipment throughout the shift, following health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, reporting restocking needs to management in a timely fashion.
- Educate customers on different coffee beans, roasts, brewing methods, and our seasonal offerings to enhance their overall coffee experience.
- Assist with other light duties as assigned by management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the establishment during peak and off-peak hours.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a barista, ideally in a high-volume café or hospitality setting.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- Solid knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, latte art fundamentals, and espresso machine operation.
- Fluency in Portuguese and a working knowledge of English to cater to diverse clientele.
Preferred Qualifications
- Barista certification or completion of relevant culinary/hospitality training courses.
- Demonstrated ability to create intricate latte art designs.
- Familiarity with local coffee culture and emerging beverage trends in Maputo.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering procedures.
