Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database systems (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions for optimization.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, index rebuilds, and integrity checks.
- Develop and implement database security strategies, ensuring data protection and compliance.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity errors, and data corruption.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal downtime.
- Document database configurations, processes, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical production support.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools to improve efficiency and reliability.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in a production environment.
- Expert-level proficiency with SQL Server, including T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
- Strong experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Proven track record of managing database backups, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups).
- Solid understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Proficiency in database monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, especially in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Familiarity with other database technologies such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
