Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure cost-efficiency and quality in line with organisational objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conduct thorough due diligence, and maintain a comprehensive database of approved vendors.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve the best value for money while mitigating risks.
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed-upon KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs), addressing any deviations or issues promptly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely and effective delivery of goods and services.
- Oversee inventory management and ensure optimal stock levels where applicable.
- Implement and enforce procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, savings achieved, and market trends to senior management.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the procurement function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar role (minimum 3 years).
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and vendor relationship management.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficient in using procurement software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on cost-saving initiatives and value generation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification or working towards it.
- Experience in the recruitment or HR consulting industry.
- Familiarity with local Scottish supplier networks.
