As a Truck Driver with Career.zycto, you will be responsible for transporting a wide array of goods, from general cargo to specialised freight, across specified routes. Your day will involve meticulous vehicle checks, accurate load securing, precise navigation, and professional interaction with clients and colleagues. For long-distance roles, you’ll be an integral part of national supply chains, often requiring overnight stays and strict adherence to driving hours regulations. Local delivery drivers will focus on optimising routes within the Glasgow metropolitan area and surrounding regions, building strong relationships with local businesses and ensuring swift, effective service.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) safely and efficiently for long-distance and/or local deliveries.
- Perform daily vehicle pre-and post-operation checks, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects promptly.
- Load and unload goods, or oversee loading/unloading, ensuring cargo is properly secured and accounted for.
- Adhere strictly to all road transport regulations, including tachograph rules, driving hours, and working time directives.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including manifests, delivery notes, and digital tachograph data.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, delays, and issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to specified locations.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedule and basic on-road repairs when necessary.
- Navigate routes efficiently, utilising GPS and road knowledge to avoid delays.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving license.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road transport regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., flatbed, curtain-sider, refrigerated).
- Familiarity with the Glasgow and central Scotland road network.
- ADR certification (for hazardous goods, if applicable).
- Forklift license.
- Previous experience with a range of cargo types.
