Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional Project Manager Construction Lead to spearhead complex and impactful building projects within Kericho County, Kenya. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of construction projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, schedule development, and budget management.
  • Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as local building codes and industry best practices.
  • Effectively manage and mentor project teams, including site managers, engineers, and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, developing contingency plans to address potential issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, progress updates, and financial forecasts to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage contract administration, including change orders, claims, and subcontractor agreements, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all work meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and functional integrity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project performance, identifying lessons learned, and integrating best practices into future projects.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations in Kenya.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites within Kericho County.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Construction Management or Business Administration.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Engineers Board of Kenya).
  • Experience with green building practices and sustainable construction.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
