Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of construction projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, schedule development, and budget management.
- Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as local building codes and industry best practices.
- Effectively manage and mentor project teams, including site managers, engineers, and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications.
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, developing contingency plans to address potential issues and maintain project momentum.
- Prepare and present regular project reports, progress updates, and financial forecasts to stakeholders and senior management.
- Manage contract administration, including change orders, claims, and subcontractor agreements, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all work meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and functional integrity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project performance, identifying lessons learned, and integrating best practices into future projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior management role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale construction projects from conception to completion.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations in Kenya.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites within Kericho County.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Construction Management or Business Administration.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Engineers Board of Kenya).
- Experience with green building practices and sustainable construction.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
