Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and other key accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support strategic planning and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations (VAT, income tax, etc.) and timely submission of tax returns.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Monitor and implement internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Process journal entries, accruals, and prepayments accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and provide financial insights.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pastel) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Experience with financial regulatory reporting in Lesotho.
