Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical plant equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures, developing and implementing effective repair and improvement solutions to enhance reliability and lifespan.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance assessments of mechanical systems, recommending upgrades or modifications to optimise efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with production and operational teams to schedule maintenance activities, minimising disruption and ensuring continuity of operations.
- Manage spare parts inventory for critical mechanical components, liaising with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and cost-effective solutions.
- Participate in the commissioning of new equipment and systems, providing expert mechanical input and ensuring seamless integration.
- Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, including maintenance logs, repair histories, and engineering drawings.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the plant.
- Provide technical mentorship and support to junior technicians and operational staff as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Maintenance Engineer in a heavy industrial or manufacturing plant environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with a wide range of industrial mechanical equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing complex mechanical faults and implementing effective repair strategies.
- Excellent understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to industrial operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
