As a Construction Labourer, you will be an integral part of our project teams, supporting various construction activities from foundational work to site cleanup. Your role will be crucial in ensuring projects run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople and supervisors, gaining hands-on experience with tools, materials, and construction techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, electricians, etc.) with various tasks as directed.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning, digging, clearing debris, and performing basic setup tasks.
- Operate hand and power tools under supervision (e.g., shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, jackhammers, saws).
- Perform general site cleanup, including sweeping, tidying, and waste disposal.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures like scaffolding, hoardings, and ramps.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any damage or malfunction.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour, including lifting heavy objects (up to 25 kg) and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and experienced team members.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong commitment to attendance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.
- Adherence to strict safety protocols and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to a construction site or similar outdoor work environment (volunteer experience acceptable).
- Valid driver's license (Code 8/B) to assist with material transportation to/from site if needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED), though not strictly required for this entry-level role.
