Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and technically proficient IT Technician specializing in Hardware Setup & Troubleshooting to join our growing team in Kirkstall, Leeds. In this crucial role, you will be the front-line support for all hardware-related needs across our organisation, ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of hardware, from unboxing and configuration of new equipment to diagnosing and resolving complex issues with existing infrastructure.
Your day-to-day will involve hands-on work with desktops, laptops, peripherals, network devices, and other IT assets. This includes installing operating systems and applications, performing upgrades, and ensuring all hardware components are functioning optimally. You will also play a key role in maintaining our IT inventory, accurately documenting all changes, and adhering to best practices for asset management. Key Responsibilities
- Perform hardware installation, configuration, and setup of new workstations, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Install, update, and maintain operating systems (Windows, macOS) and essential business applications.
- Provide first-line technical support to end-users via in-person, phone, or remote assistance.
- Manage and maintain IT asset inventory, including accurate tracking of hardware and software licenses.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on hardware to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity issues and Wi-Fi configurations.
- Document technical procedures, solutions, and user guides to build a comprehensive knowledge base.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger projects and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ensure security best practices are followed for all hardware and software installations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting PC hardware components (CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, Motherboard, GPU).
- Experience with Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) installation, configuration, and support.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
