Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and investigation into assigned topics, developing original story ideas aligned with editorial guidelines.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of sources, experts, and contacts to generate exclusive content and stay abreast of developments.
- Interview subjects from diverse backgrounds, ensuring fair and accurate representation of perspectives.
- Write, edit, and proofread high-quality news articles, features, reports, and digital content under tight deadlines, adhering to journalistic ethics and house style.
- Verify facts, data, and information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, objectivity, and credibility.
- Utilize multimedia tools and platforms for content creation, including capturing photos, videos, or audio where appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with editors, photographers, videographers, and other team members to enhance storytelling and content delivery.
- Monitor current events, local and national news, and industry trends to identify emerging stories and angles.
- Engage with audience feedback and comments, participating in discussions to foster community engagement.
- Adhere strictly to legal and ethical guidelines pertaining to media and journalism in Mauritius.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Creole a plus).
- Proven ability to research, investigate, and distill complex information into compelling narratives.
- Strong interviewing and investigative reporting capabilities.
- Excellent command of grammar, spelling, and journalistic style.
