Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours through St. Andrew's attractions, tailored to the group's interests and preferences.
- Provide accurate and captivating historical, cultural, and geographical information about the sites visited, bringing stories to life.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants throughout the excursion, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Manage tour logistics efficiently, including timing, transportation coordination, and clear communication of meeting points.
- Adapt tour content, pace, and route to suit different client demographics, physical capabilities, and unexpected changes.
- Offer authentic recommendations for local dining, shopping, entertainment, and other activities to enhance the visitor experience.
- Handle unexpected situations or emergencies professionally and efficiently, maintaining a positive and calm demeanor.
- Collect feedback from participants to continuously improve tour quality, content, and the overall visitor experience.
Required Skills
- Exceptional verbal communication and captivating storytelling abilities, capable of engaging diverse groups.
- Extensive and verifiable knowledge of St. Andrew, Jamaica's history, culture, geography, and current events.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to connect with and manage diverse groups of people.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities, ensuring smooth tour execution.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, group dynamics, and client needs with a positive attitude.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon onboarding).
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License and a clean driving record (essential for tours requiring self-driving or transportation).
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in additional languages, such as Spanish, French, or German, to cater to a broader international audience.
- Previous professional experience (minimum 1.5 years) as a tour guide or in a closely related hospitality and tourism role.
- Formal training or certification in tourism, hospitality management, or local history from a recognized institution.
