Job Description

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, a trailblazer in the telecommunications sector, is on the lookout for a passionate and technically proficient Network Administrator to strengthen our IT operations in Murehwa, Mashonaland East Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of all network services.
  • Configure and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Perform routine network audits, implement security policies, and manage access controls to protect sensitive data.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Manage IP addressing schemes, DNS, DHCP, and other network services.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on network design, implementation, and capacity planning.
  • Implement and manage network backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT personnel.
  • Stay updated with the latest network technologies and security threats.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Network Administrator or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching (e.g., VLANs, STP).
  • Strong experience with network security principles and technologies (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS).
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of scripting for network automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
