Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented Director of Research & Development to lead our innovation initiatives in Kariba, Mashonaland West Province. This pivotal role demands a seasoned leader with a strong scientific or engineering background, an exceptional track record in product development, and the strategic acumen to drive groundbreaking research. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the long-term R&D strategy, aligning it with company objectives and market opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of scientists, engineers, and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the entire R&D project portfolio, from concept generation and feasibility studies to product development, testing, and launch.
- Manage the R&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, scientific advancements, and market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
- Establish and maintain strong intellectual property strategies to protect company innovations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, marketing, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful product development and commercialization.
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry best practices, and ethical guidelines.
- Present R&D progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive a culture of scientific rigor, data-driven decision-making, and continuous learning within the R&D department.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and execute complex R&D projects from concept to commercialization.
- Proven track record of innovation, patent generation, and successful product launches.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and talent development skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
