Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize daily transport routes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage vehicle dispatch, ensuring optimal utilization of the fleet and adherence to schedules.
- Monitor real-time transport operations, making proactive adjustments for delays, breakdowns, or route changes.
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams to ensure smooth communication and operational flow.
- Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and other planning software to generate schedules and reports.
- Analyze transport data to identify trends, performance issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant road transport legislation, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Investigate and resolve any delivery issues, customer complaints, or operational discrepancies promptly.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing transport efficiency and sustainability.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in transport planning, route optimization, and vehicle dispatch.
- Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and logistics software.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Liverpool and surrounding regions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with specific route optimization software (e.g., Paragon, Ortec, PTV Group).
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance for road haulage (e.g., driver hours, WTD).
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, multi-drop environment.
- Holder of a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Haulage.
