Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Tailor to join our esteemed team at Maluti Mountain Lodge in Khanyane, Leribe. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to play a pivotal role in maintaining the impeccable standards of our lodge’s textiles and uniforms. As our in-house Tailor, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including the precise creation, meticulous alteration, and expert repair of staff uniforms, guest linens, and various other textile items crucial to our daily operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that all staff members consistently present a polished, professional, and sophisticated image, thereby reflecting the lodge’s unwavering commitment to quality, elegance, and exceptional attention to detail in every facet of our service. This role demands not only exceptional technical tailoring skills, encompassing both traditional and modern techniques, but also a keen eye for aesthetic detail, a comprehensive understanding of various fabric types—from delicate silks to durable synthetics—and the invaluable ability to work efficiently and independently, managing your workload with precision and foresight. Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and sew fabric to create new staff uniforms according to lodge specifications and design.
- Perform alterations and repairs on existing uniforms, ensuring a perfect fit and extending their longevity.
- Conduct regular inspections of uniforms and textile items to identify and address repair needs promptly.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of fabrics, threads, and tailoring supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Operate and maintain industrial and domestic sewing machines, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Provide expert advice on fabric care and uniform maintenance to staff members.
- Handle delicate fabrics and intricate designs with precision and care.
- Assist with minor guest clothing alterations or repairs as requested, upholding high standards of guest service.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand uniform requirements and ensure timely delivery of tailored items.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the tailoring workshop.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines (industrial and domestic).
- Expertise in garment construction, alteration, and repair techniques.
- Strong knowledge of different fabric types, their properties, and suitable handling methods.
- Ability to take accurate measurements and work with patterns.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in stitching.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A vocational qualification or certificate in tailoring, fashion design, or a related field.

- Experience with embroidery or decorative stitching techniques.
