Job Description
This role as a Bus Driver is more than just getting from point A to point B; it’s about being a vital part of the community, ensuring safe, punctual, and comfortable journeys for countless passengers across Allerton and the wider Liverpool area. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate passenger buses on designated routes and schedules within Allerton and surrounding Liverpool areas.
- Adhere strictly to published timetables, ensuring punctuality and efficient service delivery.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Collect fares, issue tickets, and assist passengers with inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide a high level of customer service, assisting passengers, including those with disabilities or special needs.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, strictly adhering to traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate records, including mileage, fuel consumption, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations supervisors, and passengers regarding delays or route changes.
- Keep the bus clean and tidy, creating a pleasant and welcoming environment for passengers.
- Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected situations, traffic incidents, or emergencies on the road.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driving license, Category D
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) professional bus driving experience
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor under pressure
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per rota
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating public transport routes in Liverpool or similar urban environments
- A clean driving record with no endorsements or penalty points
- First Aid certification
- Familiarity with electronic ticketing systems and fare collection procedures
- Strong geographical knowledge of Allerton and surrounding Liverpool areas
