Job Description
This role demands a meticulous and proactive Freight Forwarder to manage international shipping operations from our Speke, Liverpool hub. You will be instrumental in coordinating sea, air, and road freight movements, ensuring compliance with global customs regulations, and providing exceptional service to clients. Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end international freight forwarding processes for import and export shipments (sea, air, road).
- Prepare, process, and manage all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
- Liaise effectively with clients, carriers, customs authorities, and overseas agents to ensure seamless communication and operational flow.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and optimal service levels.
- Monitor and track shipments from origin to destination, providing timely updates to clients.
- Ensure full compliance with all international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Resolve any operational issues or discrepancies efficiently, escalating complex problems when necessary.
- Process freight invoices, manage accruals, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the company's freight management system.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Freight Forwarder or in a similar international logistics role.
- Strong understanding of international shipping documentation (BoL, AWB, customs entries).
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and international trade compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in freight management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Business.
- Experience with specific freight forwarding systems (e.g., CargoWise One, Boxtop).
- Fluency in an additional language relevant to international trade.
- Dangerous Goods certification (e.g., IATA DGR, IMDG).
- Experience with specific trade lanes or commodity types.
