Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mobile Plant Mechanic to join our growing team in Mitte, Aachen. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness and efficiency of our extensive fleet of heavy plant machinery and equipment. As a Mobile Plant Mechanic, you will be the backbone of our field operations, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of equipment directly on-site at various client locations within and around the Aachen region. Your expertise will minimize downtime, maximize productivity, and uphold our reputation for excellence and reliability.

You will work autonomously and as part of a responsive team, traveling to sites to address immediate mechanical issues, perform scheduled maintenance, and conduct thorough inspections. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems commonly found in excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction or industrial plant. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and servicing on a wide range of mobile plant equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and cranes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults on-site, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of defective parts and components efficiently and safely, minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards, operational specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed service records, equipment logs, and repair history, ensuring accurate documentation for all work performed.
  • Order and manage parts inventory necessary for repairs and scheduled maintenance, liaising with suppliers as needed.
  • Liaise effectively with site managers, equipment operators, and clients to coordinate maintenance activities and provide technical advice.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to equipment operators regarding proper operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Continuously update knowledge of new equipment models, diagnostic tools, and maintenance techniques through ongoing training.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Mobile Plant Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities across diverse heavy machinery.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Expertise in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems, including common rail and AdBlue technologies.
  • Familiarity with various types of heavy plant machinery, construction equipment, and industrial vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license (Class B or equivalent, C/CE highly preferred for heavier service vehicles).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interaction.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic field environment.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and delivering high-quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or apprenticeship (e.g., Baumaschinenmechatroniker) in Plant Mechanics, Agricultural Machinery, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications in specific plant machinery operation, diagnostics, or maintenance (e.g., welding, lifting equipment).
  • Experience with modern telematics systems and advanced diagnostic software for heavy equipment.
  • German language proficiency (B2 level or higher) to communicate effectively with local teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • First aid certification and other relevant safety training.
