Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice verification, entry, and payment processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Assist with daily bank reconciliations and general ledger entries, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing necessary documentation and assisting with financial analysis tasks.
  • Maintain and organize financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, and other departments to resolve financial inquiries and streamline operational processes.
  • Prepare basic financial reports and summaries as required, contributing to management decision-making.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of financial operations by suggesting efficiencies and process enhancements, while actively learning new financial systems and tools.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic formulas).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all tasks.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a finance or accounting department.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or other accounting software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) or IFRS.
