Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning of lawns, shrubs, and trees across various sites.
- Cultivate and maintain flower beds, planting seasonal flowers, shrubs, and other plant material.
- Undertake weeding, fertilizing, and pest control activities to ensure healthy plant growth.
- Operate and maintain a range of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
- Monitor grounds for potential hazards, addressing issues promptly or reporting them for further action.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on paths, fences, gates, and outdoor furniture.
- Manage waste and litter, ensuring public areas remain clean and tidy.
- Assist with irrigation system checks, adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf collection, snow removal, and winter protection for plants.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Groundskeeper or in a similar landscaping/grounds maintenance role.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of landscape equipment and machinery.
- Solid understanding of horticultural practices, including planting, pruning, and pest management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of grounds presentation.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticultural qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture).
- PA1/PA6 certification for safe use of pesticides.
- Experience with sports pitch maintenance.
- First Aid certification.
