Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Vehicle Inspector – MOT & Compliance to join our dedicated team in Hoylake, Liverpool. This pivotal role involves conducting thorough vehicle inspections to ensure they meet the rigorous safety and environmental standards set by the DVSA, as well as our internal compliance benchmarks. As a Vehicle Inspector, you will be performing Statutory Annual Roadworthiness Tests (MOTs) on a wide range of vehicles, identifying defects, and providing clear, concise reports. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive MOT inspections on various classes of vehicles according to DVSA standards.
- Accurately record and document all findings, including defects, advisories, and vehicle details, using approved systems.
- Ensure all inspections are conducted impartially, ethically, and in strict compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to service advisors and, where necessary, directly to customers.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance where appropriate.
- Maintain all inspection equipment and tools in excellent working condition, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Stay updated with the latest DVSA regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements in vehicle inspection.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Valid DVSA MOT Tester certification (Classes 4 & 7 minimum)
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Inspector or MOT Tester (minimum 3 years)
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and automotive systems
- Familiarity with current DVSA regulations and compliance procedures
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in using computerised diagnostic equipment and workshop management software
- Full UK driving license
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional MOT Tester certifications (e.g., Classes 1, 2, 5)
- NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification
- Experience with electric and hybrid vehicle inspection
- Familiarity with various vehicle makes and models
