Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote DevOps Pipeline Specialist to join our distributed engineering team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines that power Squarespace’s global platform. You will work on cutting-edge technologies, ensuring our development teams can rapidly and reliably deliver features to our millions of users. This position demands a deep understanding of modern DevOps practices, a passion for automation, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems across a distributed environment. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and product teams to optimize deployment strategies, enhance system observability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across our infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment processes across various environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate new services and features into existing pipelines, ensuring seamless delivery.
- Monitor pipeline health, performance, and security, implementing proactive measures to prevent disruptions and ensure compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex build, deployment, and environment-related problems efficiently.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for pipeline architecture, processes, and best practices.
- Champion DevOps best practices, including infrastructure-as-code, observability, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure and deployments, ensuring high availability.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve pipeline efficiency, security, and developer experience.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and industry best practices throughout the CI/CD lifecycle.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or similar role focusing on CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong proficiency with at least one major CI/CD platform (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
- Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
- Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in distributed systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).
- Understanding of microservices architectures and their deployment challenges.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional).
- Experience with secret management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault).
- Previous experience working in a fully remote or highly distributed team environment.
