Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and physically capable General Laborer to join our team in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to perform various manual tasks in diverse conditions. As a General Laborer, you will be an integral part of our operations, supporting projects across different sectors, including construction, logistics, and facilities maintenance. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are not afraid of physical challenges, and are committed to contributing to the success of their team. You will work closely with supervisors and other team members, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, digging, and loading materials.
- Assist skilled tradespeople and technicians with various duties as required on job sites.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including job sites, workshops, and equipment.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are properly secured and transported.
- Handle and move construction materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with the setup and tear down of job sites and equipment.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of tools and machinery.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work in varying weather conditions (indoors and outdoors).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a general labor, construction, or similar physical role.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy equipment (certification an asset).
