Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort and shelve books, periodicals, and other library materials according to established classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress).
- Maintain the neatness and order of shelves, ensuring all materials are in their correct locations.
- Perform shelf-reading to identify misplaced items and re-shelve them correctly.
- Shift and rearrange library materials to create space for new acquisitions and improve collection flow.
- Assist with basic inventory tasks, including identifying damaged materials or items needing repair.
- Help maintain a clean and organized library environment.
- Assist patrons with basic directional questions or locating specific sections.
- Follow all library policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
