Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Family & Community team in Bedminster, Bristol. This pivotal role involves working directly with children, young people, and their families, providing crucial support, assessment, and intervention to ensure their safety, well-being, and development. You will be at the forefront of identifying needs, safeguarding individuals, and empowering families to overcome challenges, fostering resilience and positive outcomes within their community.

You will manage a diverse caseload, conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalized care plans, and coordinating multi-agency support. This includes working collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organizations to deliver holistic and integrated services. The role demands strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and the capacity to build trusting relationships with service users from diverse backgrounds.

You will be expected to provide expert advice and guidance, challenge poor practice where necessary, and champion the rights of children and families. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families in need, identifying risks and strengths.

  • Safeguard children and vulnerable adults, responding effectively to protection concerns.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reports, adhering to statutory requirements and professional standards.
  • Prepare for and attend court proceedings, providing evidence and professional opinions as required.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and professional development activities.
  • Undertake duty tasks as part of a rota, responding to urgent referrals and crisis situations.
  • Empower families and individuals to access resources and develop their own solutions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a social work setting with children and families.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to build rapport and engage effectively with diverse client groups.
  • Proficiency in safeguarding practices and relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004).
  • Competence in managing complex caseloads and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for community visits.
  • Demonstrable commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and cultural sensitivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-qualification experience in a specific area such as fostering, adoption, or youth justice.
  • Experience with specific intervention models (e.g., systemic practice, solution-focused therapy).
  • Additional training or qualifications in mental health first aid or trauma-informed care.
  • Fluency in an additional language relevant to the local community.
