Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, and environmental evaluations, to identify client needs and strengths.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that address client goals, promote independence, and improve participation in meaningful activities.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment prescription, environmental modifications, and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, families, carers, and a multidisciplinary team (e.g., physiotherapists, doctors, social workers) to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Educate clients and their families on compensatory strategies, preventative measures, and community resources to support long-term well-being.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and supervision sessions to review client progress and enhance clinical practice.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Adhere to all relevant professional codes of conduct, ethical guidelines, and health and safety policies.

Required Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing treatment plans
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and report writing
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for community visits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in specific areas such as neurological rehabilitation, older adult care, or community therapy
  • Post-graduate training or certifications in specialist occupational therapy areas
  • Experience with complex case management
  • Familiarity with local health and social care pathways in Bristol
  • Membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
