Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and energetic Stage Construction Helper to join our dynamic team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the creation of memorable live events, concerts, corporate functions, and theatrical productions right here in our community and surrounding areas. As a Stage Construction Helper, you will be an integral part of our setup and teardown crews, working under the guidance of experienced lead carpenters and stage managers to construct and dismantle temporary stage structures, scenic elements, and event infrastructure.

Your day-to-day will involve hands-on work, utilizing various tools and equipment to assemble staging platforms, backdrops, rigging points, and other essential components that form the foundation of successful events. This role demands excellent physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to safety protocols. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and works well within a team-oriented setting. You will gain invaluable experience in event logistics, structural assembly, and the nuances of creating safe and stunning environments for audiences and performers alike. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of stage construction materials and equipment.
  • Help with the assembly and dismantling of temporary stage structures, platforms, risers, and scenic elements.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Follow precise instructions from lead carpenters, stage managers, and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of tools and materials.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with rigging and de-rigging of lighting, sound, and scenic elements as required.
  • Perform general labour tasks to support the overall efficiency of the construction process.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
  • Strong physical stamina and endurance for long hours of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Basic knowledge and safe handling of common hand tools (e.g., hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction, theatre production, or event setup is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Experience operating power tools (e.g., drills, saws).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
