Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in alignment with Jamaican laws and international standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across the industrial estate to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize and deliver effective health and safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Advise management on safety-related matters, legal compliance, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and corrective actions.
- Manage emergency response plans and lead drills to ensure preparedness.
- Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Promote a strong safety culture through ongoing communication, campaigns, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, reporting on trends and recommending improvements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations in Jamaica.
- Excellent hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation skills.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering engaging safety training programs.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Familiarity with environmental management principles and sustainable practices.
