Job Description

Are you a skilled and passionate Surveyor with a keen eye for detail and a love for working in the field? M&M Jamaica Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Mandeville, Manchester Parish. This is a critical, hands-on field role where you will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for our diverse array of construction and civil engineering projects across the region. You will be responsible for conducting precise land measurements, topographical surveys, construction stake-outs, and boundary determinations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all project data from inception to completion. Our projects range from essential public infrastructure like roads and utilities to commercial developments and large-scale residential sites, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for professional growth.

In this pivotal role, you will spend a significant portion of your time outdoors, navigating various terrains and utilizing state-of-the-art surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and potentially LiDAR scanners and drones. Your expertise will directly influence project planning, design, and execution, ensuring that all aspects of construction adhere to exact specifications and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precise land surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction stake-out, and as-built surveys for various projects.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems, digital levels, and potentially LiDAR scanners.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine project requirements and survey parameters.
  • Collect, process, and analyze field data using specialized surveying software.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and construction crews to provide essential survey data and support.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations in all field operations.
  • Conduct quality control checks on survey data and calculations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic field maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior survey technicians or assistants when required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and digital levels.
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, geodesy, and land measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, maps, and legal descriptions.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for data computation and analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and challenging terrain.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Registered Land Surveyor certification in Jamaica (or actively working towards it).
  • Experience with LiDAR technology and drone surveying.
  • Knowledge of local Jamaican planning and surveying regulations and laws.
  • Proficiency in GIS software applications.
