Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, creative, and community-focused Public Relations Coordinator to join our team in Murehwa. This pivotal role will be instrumental in enhancing Nyagambu Farm’s brand reputation, managing our public image, and fostering strong, positive relationships with local media, community leaders, stakeholders, and the broader public. The PR Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive PR strategies that highlight our agricultural achievements, sustainability initiatives, and significant community contributions. You will be the voice of Nyagambu Farm, crafting compelling narratives, managing media inquiries, organizing public events, and producing engaging content across various platforms. This position requires someone with a deep understanding of the local cultural landscape, excellent communication skills, and a passion for rural development and agriculture. You will work closely with our leadership team, marketing department, and community engagement specialists to ensure consistent messaging and maximum positive exposure. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust public relations strategies aligned with Nyagambu Farm's overall business objectives and community values.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local and regional media outlets, journalists, and key opinion leaders.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, media advisories, company statements, and other PR materials.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyze PR effectiveness, and report on campaign performance.
  • Coordinate and manage media inquiries, interviews, and press conferences.
  • Organize and execute public events, farm tours, community workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Develop engaging content for various communication channels, including company newsletters, social media, and website (e.g., success stories, farmer profiles, sustainability reports).
  • Assist in crisis communication planning and execution to protect and uphold the farm's reputation.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency across all public-facing communications.
  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership and secure speaking engagements or awards for company representatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field, preferably within the agricultural, NGO, or rural development sectors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Shona (Ndebele is a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling stories and messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong media relations skills with a track record of successful media engagement.
  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools.
  • Excellent organizational and event management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of the local Murehwa community and cultural nuances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience working with rural communities or in agricultural communications.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for basic content creation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
