Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily feeding schedules and ensure adequate water supply for all livestock.
  • Monitor animal health, identify signs of illness or distress, and report observations promptly to supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of animal enclosures, stalls, and farm facilities.
  • Assist with routine animal treatments, vaccinations, and other veterinary care procedures under supervision.
  • Participate in farm maintenance tasks, including fence repair, bedding management, and equipment cleaning.
  • Accurately record feeding logs, health notes, and other relevant farm data.
  • Adhere strictly to all farm safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Basic animal handling skills and comfort working with livestock.
  • Strong observational skills for detecting changes in animal behavior or health.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy for record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working on a farm or with livestock.
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and nutritional requirements.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural machinery and tools.
  • First aid certification for animals (beneficial but not required).
  • Valid Mauritian driving license.
