Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company vehicle for the transportation of goods, equipment, or personnel.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery and collection routes, adhering strictly to schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Ensure all cargo is securely loaded and unloaded, preventing damage during transit.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients, customers, and the general public.
- Adhere to all local and national traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics coordinators regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., tire pressure, fluid levels) and keep the vehicle clean.
- Handle delivery paperwork, including invoices, manifests, and proof of delivery signatures.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 5 years.
- Proven experience as a driver in a logistics or delivery capacity.
- Excellent knowledge of Hope Bay, Portland, and surrounding areas.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather and road conditions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages as required.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
