Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in both design and construction to join our dynamic team in Les Salines, Port Louis. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to a diverse range of infrastructure projects, from initial concept and detailed design through to successful on-site execution and completion.

As a Civil Engineer at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and supervision of critical civil engineering works. Your role will encompass various stages of project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, structural analysis, preparing technical drawings and specifications, managing construction schedules, ensuring quality control, and overseeing site operations. We are looking for an individual who possesses a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, local building codes, and international standards, coupled with practical experience in their application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough feasibility studies, site investigations, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, plans, and specifications for diverse civil projects (e.g., roads, drainage systems, foundations, structures, earthworks).
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations in strict compliance with relevant Mauritian building codes and international standards.
  • Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other engineering tools for precise design and 3D modelling.
  • Manage and supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and stringent safety regulations.
  • Monitor project progress diligently, prepare regular status reports, and proactively identify potential issues or delays, proposing effective solutions.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, local authorities, and other key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve contractor's submissions, detailed method statements, and material samples to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations and integrate sustainable engineering practices into all project phases.
  • Participate actively in tendering processes, including accurate cost estimation and thorough bid evaluations.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and on-site staff, fostering professional growth.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in civil engineering design and construction supervision.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of local Mauritian building codes, regulations, and international design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, BS Standards).
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and robust problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related specialized field.
  • Professional registration or chartership with a recognised engineering body (e.g., CRPE, ICE, IStructE).
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in sustainable design and green building practices.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French.
