Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed design of civil engineering infrastructure, including roads, highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and tender documents in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements.
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.
- Manage project progress, resources, and budgets, ensuring adherence to established timelines and financial targets.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
- Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve engineering problems, proposing effective and efficient solutions.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other specialist engineering tools for design and analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
- Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for projects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in civil engineering with a focus on infrastructure and road construction projects.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and relevant engineering design tools.
- Strong understanding of UK design standards, regulations, and health and safety legislation (e.g., DMRB, CDM).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from conception to completion.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate technical reports and documentation.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE) or working towards it.
- Experience with flood risk assessment and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes and software.
- Experience in a consultancy or main contractor environment.
