Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Technician to join our vibrant team in Canonmills, Edinburgh. In this crucial role, you will be the frontline expert responsible for ensuring our hardware infrastructure is robust, reliable, and continuously optimized. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial setup, configuration, and deployment of new hardware including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and regular checks on IT equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Manage IT asset inventory, including tracking hardware assignments, movements, and decommissioning.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, addressing queries and resolving issues related to hardware functionality, network connectivity, and basic software operation.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger infrastructure projects and system upgrades.
  • Install and configure operating systems and essential software applications.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and data protection policies across all hardware devices.
  • Assist with network cabling, patch panel management, and other physical infrastructure tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in an IT support or technician role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware issues for desktops, laptops, and printers.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and basic understanding of macOS.
  • Familiarity with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and common business applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator).
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
  • Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) tools.
  • Experience in a client-facing support role.
  • Higher education qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
