Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases in various production and non-production environments.
- Implement and manage comprehensive backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity, security, and high availability.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures for maximum efficiency.
- Perform database capacity planning, schema design, and data migration activities to support evolving business requirements.
- Ensure database security, applying necessary patches, updates, and implementing stringent access controls.
- Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation for database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to support application deployment, database changes, and data integration efforts.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical database support, responding promptly to alerts and incidents.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential database-related issues before they impact operations or service levels.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance overall performance, scalability, and reliability.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2016 onwards) administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of database backup, recovery, and high availability concepts (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication).
- Expertise in SQL query optimization and performance tuning, including indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and system resource management.
- Demonstrated experience with database monitoring tools and techniques to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Solid knowledge of T-SQL for scripting, automation, and advanced stored procedure development.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or other relevant industry certifications.
- Experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud database services and platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for database automation and routine administrative tasks.
