Job Description

Are you a passionate and skilled Bartender ready to bring your creativity and excellent service to a stunning mountain retreat? Mountain Delight Lodge, a premier hospitality destination in Lebakeng, Qacha’s Nek, is urgently seeking a dynamic and experienced Bartender to join our team for an immediate start. This is an incredible opportunity to work in a picturesque setting, serving diverse guests and crafting delightful beverage experiences that complement our unique ambiance. As a Bartender at Mountain Delight Lodge, you will be the heart of our bar, responsible for creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all our patrons. Your primary role will be to prepare and serve an extensive range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, from classic cocktails and fine wines to local brews and refreshing mocktails, all while adhering to the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will be expected to master our drink menu, suggest pairings, and confidently recommend beverages that enhance our guests’ dining and social experiences. Beyond mixing drinks, this role demands exceptional customer service. You will interact directly with guests, take orders accurately, process payments efficiently, and ensure their satisfaction with every visit. Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area will be crucial, requiring diligent inventory management, daily setup, and thorough breakdown procedures. You’ll also be responsible for handling cash and credit card transactions, maintaining accurate records, and reconciling sales at the end of your shift. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with lodge standards and guest preferences.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner, taking orders and making recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area, including glassware, bar tools, and ingredients.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, as well as local liquor laws.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently, process payments, and manage POS systems.
  • Monitor and manage bar inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste.
  • Set up and break down the bar area before and after shifts, ensuring everything is ready for service.
  • Resolve guest complaints and issues promptly and professionally, escalating when necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen and waiting staff to ensure seamless service.
  • Contribute to a positive and energetic atmosphere within the bar and the lodge.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bartender, preferably in a hotel, lodge, or busy restaurant setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, and local beverages.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong cash handling and POS system proficiency.
  • Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Fluency in English (Sesotho proficiency is a strong advantage).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from a reputable bartending school or equivalent training.
  • Experience with inventory management and stock control specific to bar operations.
  • Additional language proficiency, particularly Sesotho.
  • Creative flair for developing new cocktail recipes and presentations.
  • Familiarity with local Lesotho cultural nuances and hospitality standards.
