Career.zycto is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Center Swimming Instructor to join a thriving community sports facility in Murang’a, Murang’a County. This is an incredible opportunity for a professional who loves the water and is passionate about teaching individuals of all ages and abilities how to swim, improve their technique, and enjoy aquatic activities safely. As a Swimming Instructor, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering high-quality swimming lessons, ensuring a positive and encouraging learning environment for all participants. Your role will involve assessing swimmer capabilities, designing progressive lesson plans, and effectively communicating progress to students and their guardians. We are seeking someone who can inspire confidence, prioritize safety above all else, and contribute to a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere within the sports center. This position demands a keen eye for detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging swimming lessons for individuals and groups across various age and skill levels.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' swimming abilities and track their progress effectively.
- Ensure the highest standards of safety and supervision in and around the pool area at all times.
- Educate participants on essential water safety rules and emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, student achievements, and incident reports.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with students, parents, and sports center staff.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs and goals of participants.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in aquatic instruction.
- Assist with pool maintenance and facility cleanliness as needed to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in all four competitive swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with children, adults, and individuals with special needs
- Excellent observational skills for assessing and correcting swimming techniques
- First Aid and CPR certification (current)
- Demonstrated commitment to water safety and accident prevention
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Lifeguard certification (e.g., Kenya Lifesaving Federation or equivalent)
- Experience teaching swimming to competitive swimmers or triathletes
- Knowledge of aquatic fitness programs
- Fluency in Swahili and English
